The order rarely changes, because the order is the teaching. Times are approximate — a class breathes at the pace of the people in it.
00:00
Shoes off, mat down, a few minutes of nothing at all. Chanting for those who want it, silence for those who do not.
00:10
Kapalabhati and anuloma viloma first, because a settled breath makes every posture afterwards more honest.
00:30
Surya namaskar at a pace you can breathe through, then the small joint-freeing movements that older bodies are grateful for.
00:55
The classical Hatha order, built up over the hour: inversions or their preparations, backbends, forward bends, twists and standing postures — each one held, each one offered in more than one version.
01:40
Savasana, guided through the body part by part. Twenty minutes that most people remember longer than the postures.
01:55
A short sitting, and one idea to carry out into the afternoon.

Is this for me?
Nothing is assumed. You will be given a version of every posture that your body can hold today, and be watched while you hold it.
No membership, no package, no app. One class or fourteen — the rate is the same and the welcome is the same.
If your practice has become a workout, the pranayama and the long holds here will feel like coming back to something.
Tell us what hurts. Props, adjustments and alternatives exist for nearly everything, and the teacher would rather know before than after.
Practicalities
Everything you need to know before you arrive, in one place.

Before your first class
Something not covered here? Ask on WhatsApp — someone who teaches the class will answer, usually within the day.
No. Both daily classes are drop-in. A message on WhatsApp the evening before is still helpful — it tells us to expect you, and it confirms whether the morning class is at the shala in Chirattapalam or outdoors at Secret Garden.
A two-hour drop-in class at Santhi is ₹600. If you practise with us for 7 days or more we take 30% off the whole stay. From November 2026 the drop-in rate becomes ₹700.
Morning Hatha runs 7:30 – 9:30 am and Afternoon Hatha runs 3:30 – 5:30 pm, every day. Both are two hours and both are open to all levels.
You will not. Classes are small and mixed-level, and every posture is offered in more than one shape. Tell the teacher at the start that it is your first class; you will be given the version that suits your body today and be watched carefully through it.
Mats are here. Bring water, a small towel and clothes you can fold forward in — loose cotton is kinder in Kerala's humidity than tight synthetics. Practice is barefoot. Come with an empty-ish stomach: two hours after a light meal is comfortable.
Yes. Classes are taught in English, with the Sanskrit name of each posture and practice given alongside so you learn the traditional vocabulary as you go. Malayalam is spoken here too.
Yes, with a word beforehand. Tell us what is happening — a recent surgery, a disc problem, a pregnancy, high blood pressure, a stiff shoulder — and the practice is adapted for you. For pregnancy we usually suggest a private session first so the sequence can be built around your trimester.
Traditional Hatha yoga in the Sivananda stream: warm-ups, sun salutations, a sequence of classical asanas held with steady breath, pranayama, deep relaxation and a short meditation. Some classes borrow the flow of vinyasa, but the spine of the practice is classical Hatha rather than fitness-led power yoga.
Reserve a mat, or simply appear. Both work — the first just means we will be expecting you.
