Read this before you compare schools

Santhi is not a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. Graduates receive the 200-hour teacher training certificate issued by Santhi School of Yoga & Vedanta Studies.

If a Yoga Alliance credential is required for the studios you want to teach in, choose a registered school — we would rather tell you now than take your deposit. What this course offers instead is a traditional curriculum, a teacher who has taught it more than seventy times, a batch small enough to be corrected in daily, and a month in Kerala that costs less than most certificates in Europe.

The curriculum

Eight subjects, one practice

Nothing here is bolted on for the certificate. Each subject exists because the practice does not hold together without it.

  • 01

    Asana

    Practice twice daily

The classical Hatha postures: how each one is built, what it is for, where it commonly goes wrong. Alignment, safe entry and exit, props and variations for real bodies. Inversions taught in stages, not thrown at you.

  • 02

    Pranayama, bandha, mudra

    Daily, from dawn

Kapalabhati, anuloma viloma, ujjayi, bhastrika and the retentions; the three bandhas; the mudras that hold a practice together. Contraindications taught as carefully as the techniques.

  • 03

    Kriya and cleansing practices

    Through the course

The traditional shatkarmas that belong to Hatha yoga — what they are, who they suit, when to leave them alone.

  • 04

    Meditation and chanting

    Morning and evening

Sitting practice built slowly, from five minutes to something you can keep. Mantra and kirtan for those who want them, silence for those who do not.

  • 05

    Philosophy and Vedanta

    Daily theory

The eight limbs, the classical texts, the Vedantic enquiry that gives the practice its reason. Taught in plain language, with room to argue.

  • 06

    Anatomy of the practice

    Applied, not academic

Spine, hips, shoulders, breath mechanics — enough to teach safely and to explain to a student why their knee complains.

  • 07

    Teaching methodology

    Every afternoon

Sequencing a class, using your voice, demonstrating, observing, adjusting, holding a room. You will teach in front of the group, be corrected honestly, and teach again.

  • 08

    Kerala living

    Woven through

Sattvic food and why it matters, Ayurvedic tea, the rhythm of a South Indian day, and excursions into Kochi so the month is not spent only on a mat.

A day in training

From dawn until early sleep

Timings are confirmed with each batch before it begins — the shape below is how the days move.

  1. 05:45WakeThe town is quiet; the light is not yet hot.
  2. 06:15Pranayama and morning practiceBreath first, then the full asana class while the body is fresh and the mind has not started talking.
  3. 08:45BreakfastKerala fruit, something warm, Ayurvedic tea.
  4. 10:00Philosophy and theoryThe text of the day, discussion, notes. Anatomy sessions sit here too.
  5. 12:30Lunch and restThe hottest hours are for sleeping, reading and washing clothes. This is not wasted time; it is how a month of practice stays sustainable.
  6. 15:30Teaching methodologySequencing, voice, adjustments — and your turn to teach the group.
  7. 17:00Evening practiceSlower, longer holds, deep relaxation.
  8. 19:00Dinner, then meditationA short sitting and chanting to close the day. Lights out early, because 05:45 comes around.

Teacher training questions

Something not covered here? Ask on WhatsApp — someone who teaches the class will answer, usually within the day.

Is the 200-hour training Yoga Alliance registered?

Santhi is not a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. Graduates receive the 200-hour teacher training certificate issued by Santhi School of Yoga & Vedanta Studies. We say this plainly so you can decide with clear eyes: if a Yoga Alliance RYT credential is essential for where you plan to teach, choose a registered school. If you want a traditional, closely taught foundation from a teacher who has led 70+ international batches, this is the course.

How much does the 200-hour yoga teacher training cost?

€899 for the 28 days. That is all-inclusive: tuition, study material, accommodation in Fort Kochi, three sattvic vegetarian meals a day, Ayurvedic tea, cultural excursions and your certificate. Flights, visa, insurance, laundry and personal treatments are not included.

Do I need to be able to do advanced postures to join?

No. You need a steady daily practice and the willingness to keep one for a month. Headstands and deep backbends are taught, but they are not the entrance exam. Sincerity, attendance and curiosity about philosophy matter far more.

What are the 2027 course dates?

Four batches: 1 – 28 January 2027; 1 – 28 February 2027; 1 – 28 April 2027; 1 – 28 June 2027. Each batch is a single continuous 28-day course beginning on the first of the month.

Where do trainees stay and what is the food like?

Accommodation is arranged in Fort Kochi for the whole course, close enough that the day happens on foot. Meals are vegetarian and sattvic — Kerala rice, coconut, vegetables, dal, fruit, and Ayurvedic tea through the day. Dietary needs can be accommodated with notice.

What does a training day look like?

Practice begins at dawn with pranayama and Hatha asana while the town is still quiet. Breakfast, then theory — philosophy, anatomy of the practice, the texts. Lunch and a real rest through the hottest hours. The afternoon is teaching methodology: sequencing, observing, adjusting, using your voice. A slower evening practice, meditation, then early sleep.

How many students are in a batch?

Deliberately few. The course is taught in a group small enough for the teacher to know every trainee's practice by name — which is the whole reason the school has stayed this size for fifteen years.

How do I reserve a place, and can I pay in instalments?

Send an enquiry with your preferred batch and we reply with availability, a short conversation about your practice, and the deposit details. Payment terms, including part payments before arrival, are agreed in that conversation — ask and we will tell you exactly what is possible.

One month. One teacher. One tradition.

Four batches run in 2027, each limited to a small group. Ask about the month that suits you and we will tell you honestly what is left.
